Germania – Il casinò di Bad Wiessee vede il 27% del GGR spazzato via dal COVID

The Wiesseer Spielbank in Bad Wiessee, owned by Lotto Bayern, has seen its GGR fall by 27 per cent in 2020 compared to the previous year.

Due to the pandemic, the casinos were closed from March 14 to May 10.

In 2019, the casino had a turnover of €26.3m. The number of guests over this period has fallen by 36.71 per cent. Across Bavaria as a whole, gaming revenue has dropped by 22 per cent.

The shortfall in income will also have an impact on the casino tax that Bad Wiessee receives as the local authority. In 2019, gaming tax amounted to €3.9m.
Oliver Fisch, press spokesman for Lotto Bayern’s casinos department, said: “The further development of the business is difficult to predict.”
Slots reopened on May 11, but only with around half of the existing quota switched on. On June 15, the table gaming was launched again with restrictions to protect health.
